Impact
This course is oriented to facilitate the knowledge of phytotherapy as a tool to maintain, recover and improve health from phytotherapeutic products and dietary supplements of natural origin, as adjuvants to medical therapeutics. The multiplicity of names used to refer to Natural Therapies has led to the existenceof different definitions and classifications. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) has proposed a pragmatic classification of natural therapies in five areas, according to which Phytotherapy would be included in the area of Biological Practices. Phytotherapy uses natural plants or herbal substances for the treatment of a wide range of symptoms and diseases and the improvement of the functions of organs and body systems and is widely used throughout the world. In fact, in Colombia, like many other countries, the production, authorization, registration, distribution and dispensation of products of plant origin is regulated by the National Institute for the Surveillance of Medicines and Food (INVIMA).

Payment

Cost: $220.000 pesos

(The value includes lunch and refreshments on the first day and transportation on the second day from Manizales to the laboratories and back).

Modality: Classroom

Audience: Students and university professors of biological sciences, agriculture, livestock, chemistry and related fields. Representatives of governmental entities of research centers in the area of agriculture.

Duration: 8 hours. From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Fecha: 17 de mayo de 2019

Place: BIOS facilities, Ecoparque Los Yarumos, Manizales, Caldas, Colombia.

Impact

Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary scientific approach that integrates knowledge from several traditional scientific disciplines such as biology, computer science, mathematics, chemistry and physics, which allows generating solutions in sectors such as agriculture, from biological systems. This integration is onlypossible if the molecular bases that govern biological processes are clear, from the structure and function of macromolecules, the genetic composition of organisms to their metabolic functioning. These bases will allow understanding how sequencing technologies work and how they were developed and the importance of each stage in the analysis of genomic data for the development of innovative products

Impact

Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary scientific approach that integrates knowledge and computational tools from several traditional scientific disciplines such as biology, computer science, mathematics, chemistry and physics, to generate solutions from biological systems. This integration is only possible if there are clear biological and computational bases that allow the analysis of the large volume of genomic information that is growing day by day. These bases will allow understanding how sequencing technologies work and were developed and the importance of each stage in the analysis of genomic data. This course will allow you to retake basic knowledge on molecular biology and genetics and introduce attendees to a Linux environment using the BIOS computational infrastructure, with a view to address the sea of possibilities when abstracting and interpreting all genomic information.
